2008. The start of the year. Why does it seem so difficult?
Many of us have been faced with saying goodbye to a loved one this past year, many of which have been far too young to conceive of their passing. As we wrestle through the adjustment, the hardest thing to accept is that some of our population may find it more difficult to adjust. Sadly, some may chose to transition. As I heard the news today about Heath Ledger, I was reminded of how some of our most creative individuals seem to be those most challenged with adjusting during these periods. A couple of my clients called wanting comfort and information as their own lives seem to be getting out of control – this news just adding to their sense of sadness and frustration.
New beginnings can sometimes be a challenge to manage. This is as true in our personal lives as it is in business, political or any other area of our lives. And it has never been as true as it has been for the start of this year! When I was asked to give my predictions ** for the coming year, I received a great deal of information around the challenges we would face as we started the new year and how important it was to become in tune and balance with ourselves and our relationship with the universe. And, how the younger members of our communities would find it difficult to work through the changes our planet is facing.
At the end of 2007, we focused most of our time on preparing for the changes 2008 would bring. With many of you, we focused on moving past the blocks and processes that have challenged us, preparing our plans through exercises and ritual and making ourselves available and ready for the fast moving times this new year would bring. I remember being interviewed by Bonnie Colleen*** towards the end of the year and discussing how fast the transition would be as we jumped into 2008. It’s almost like shock, adjusting to the shifts in energies and activities. Being hit by the ebbs and valleys in energy of the fast moving environment, ducking and side stepping while trying to stay on track… this can be overwhelming. During these periods how prepared we are can be the most important aspect of ones life. Preparing yourself for change is as critical as fastening your seat belts before beginning to drive your car. Whether your intention is to drive down the street, on the freeway or in a race, being prepared and safe is a key element and necessary part of the preparation process. Without this, the simplest accident can become traumatizing and life changing. Take steps to prepare yourself for change by asking questions, taking action and being flexible.
There are a few tips for you as you move through this challenging time:
1. Place your support system into play. It’s not enough to be prepared. You must also have your support systems in place during this time. For your support systems will be that strong wall upon which you can lean on, turn to, learn from and pull from when you feel the stress of life pressing you. You must remember that we all have this support system, every one of us. Do not feel alone in your path or struggle. Now is the time to recognize who are included in your support system. If, for no other reason, than to be reminded as you move through your life. Make a list of your support system. List them out and place this list upon your sacred place so that they will be with you at all times, particularly when you commune in your regular activities. And who is in your support system? They are:
- Friends, loved ones and associates who can help you as you make your way through your path will ease some of the your confusion and stress. Allow those who love and believe in you lend their shoulders and arms when you feel the pressures of the world coming down upon you,
- Practitioners, Healers and Physicians. Check in with your practitioner (s) when you feel your life is getting out of your control. It is not admitting any failure to reach out for help when things come down heavy on your mind and life,
- Ascended Masters, Angels, Guides and Ancestors. Our valuable support systems which are here to help us through all times – difficult and simple,
- The Creator. Who never leaves us alone, though we can sometimes feel otherwise. Reach out to God and allow this source energy to fill your heart, your life, your soul when you feel empty and alone.
Don’t forget these important players in your life. They are as important to our survival as what we eat and breath! Give them all an opportunity to assist you, for I promise you – they indeed care and enjoy being your back-up team!
2. Be healthy as you travel on your path. We have become so dependent upon chemicals and drugs to help us through the pain and challenges of this life. It is so important today for us to be conscious of our physical needs as we address our spiritual needs. When we ingest has huge effects on our being. Investigate more holistic techniques to deal with your troubles with sleep, weight gain, energy issues or any other concerns you may be having. Remember, as we go through this changing time our bodies will be evolving through this changing energy. I’m finding that most are having reactions to medications and drugs that have become a normal part of our society. Unless we step back and adjust how we handle our physical beings, we will find ourselves facing more loss from the community.
3. Be patient. Understand that anything worth having is not only worth fighting for but is also worth waiting for. Although the year is starting fast and things are changing fast, our goals may take time to bring together. Now is not the time to force your hand, you may find that the end result may be not to your liking if you push rather than relax. Place your plans into motion and take a step back and allow the Creator to influence the universe around you. Take a deep breath, take a walk, meditate, see a movie… do something fun for yourself as you allow things to come together.
4. Be in gratitude. Know that you have all of the blessings of life around you and that you are loved by your Creator. Knowing this, be in gratitude for the wonders you will have access to this day and all your tomorrows.
We will make it through this period together and your dreams will blossom before you sooner than you expect. Love always to you and your life.
